He married, 31 Jan 1815, Devonshire, Bermuda, '''Amelia Martha Harriott''',{{ref|1}} died 4 Sep 1863, Devonshire, Bermuda "1863, Sept. 8: Amelia Martha Whitney, widow of Capt. Henry Whitney, died in Devonshire on Sept. 4, leaving a son and 2 daughters."{{ref|2}}

Although some have identified him as the Henry Whitney who was harbor master at the port of Georgetown, Demerara, British Guiana (now Guyana), that Henry was assigned to his post in 1855, and this man was dead by 1851.

An extract of the will of Amelia Martha Whitney, written 13 Mar 1863 and probated 12 Jul 1864 reads as follows: "Dv, wd, dau of John Harriott (d), ch: Henry John (d, Dem, left ch), Francis Wm (res Dem), Anna Rebecca Watlington (w of John Thos), Amelia Christiana Watlington (w of Benjamin Wm), exec: sons-in-law Watlington, wit: Wm J. He was perhaps the Jeremiah Whitney of Pembroke whose will was dated 5 Oct 1824 and whose administrators included Mrs. Ruth Whitney.

He could possibly have been the Henry Whitney, son of [[Family:Whitney, John (b1755-c1802)|John Whitney (b1775-c1802)]], but if so, he would have had to have been born earlier in order to have been an executor in 1802.
