Jason Died shortly there after and Adalide came on to The Red River Area of Texas and settled here. I have a lot of info on the family with land grants etc. }}

For MY part of living in Texas now (which I wouldn't live anywhere else), I was the daughter of a USAF fighter pilot, so we moved a lot (well, the first 5 yrs of my life); hence, ending up in Texas.}}

they appear on a census record of Alabama 1830 and in Florida 1825 record.
Jason W. was their son and he was born in Alabama
his daughter was Mary E. ( Francis)was my Great Grandmother

I am interested in researching military participation, Jason W. served in the Union Army during the Mexican American War, as well as Confederate Army during the War Between the States. I have been looking into my family history and find there are more questions then answers. My Whitney relatives lived in Comanche Co. Texas. My g grandmother was Mary Etta Whitney(1866) daughter of Edwin Dwight Whitney(1832). I thought I had followed the trail of ancestors correctly but recent information has me in a quandry. Information I recieved from a source on GenForm
indicates that Mary and my g grandfather Henry Robert Holcomb split up and she remarried @ 1885 to a Noble Ellis Belk Had a child then Belk died leaving her a widow. She married a 3rd time a W.H. Morris and produced more children. The problem is there is no mention of this by my family and the dates for these events do not jive with the U.S. Census. The census for 1900 and 1910 have Mary and Henry still together with their Children. Some time between 1910 and the 1920 census, HR either died or they split. That census has Mary and one of her sons living with another son who was a widower. No mention of any other children of Mary in that census. So I don't know if I have the wrong Mary or the informate has the wrong Mary. I would be grateful for any assistance anyone with more expertice at this research business could give. I have not been able to locate a death certificate on her either. Searcher 1}}

{{ForumNewPost|UserID=Searcher 1|Date=5 November 2009|Text=Recently I recieved information that was never previously known among my family and I am finding it difficult to prove or disprove. The information concerned my ggrandparents Mary Etta Whitney and Henry R Holcomb. This had the 2 of them divorced and remarried to other individuals. He to a Lulu Green and she to Noble Ellis Belk. Both producing additional children. The marriage with Belk supposedly took place in 1885 and they produced a child Walter in 1886.

Problem: 1900 and 1910 Texas census show HR and Mary with children still living together. 1920 census shows Mary living with her widowed son Lee along with another son James. Thus how could she be married to Ellis Belk in 1885. The 1920 census shows Henry working as a hired hand on the Widow Greens farm. 1930 shows Henry married to widow Green and having 2 additional children.
Same problem occurs in supposed 3rd marriage of Mary to W.H. Morris. early 1900's. I have not found a death notice for Mary E. daughter of Edwin Whitney so how do I solve this or correct erronious information. Any suggestions would be appreciated}}

My earliest Whitney ancestor as far as I can tell is Thomas Whitney residing in England father to John Whitney b: 1592.

My Great Grandmother was Mary Etta Whitney b: 1866 to Edwin Dwight Whitney b: 1832. She married Henry Robert Holcomb in 1882. My grandfather was their son. He was Jesse Robert Holcomb b: 1888. My father was William Jehu Holcomb b: 1914. I am Carol J Morrison nee Holcomb.
