His father was probably James Whitney (d. abt 1850, the only known reference to his name is on O.P.'s death certificate) and his mother Ruth (unsure -- Maybe Light) Whitney Galladay/Golladay. <br /> <br /> James is believed to have died about the time of Oliver Perry's birth during a journey west, most likely traveling from Clermont County, Ohio, to Clark County, IL.
