Military History
During the Price Raid in October, 1864, the Sixteenth Regiment Kansas State Militia, seven companies of which were of Coffey County, went to the front and did honorable service throughout the campaign. The field and staff officers of the regiment were as follows: F. W. Potter, Colonel; N. S. Goss, Lieutenant Colonel; William B. Perry, Major; S. C. Junkins, First Lieutenant and Adjutant; Orson Kent, First Lieutenant and Quartermaster; William Manson, Surgeon. The line officers of Coffey County were as follows: ... Company D, James A.
