He is identified as a Mark L.8 Whitney (Sedate7, John6, John5, (poss.)Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1).

Co. B. 19th Maine Infantry, killed at Battle of Gettysburg.

Mark's sisters were: Mrs. J. L. B. Young of Camden, ME; Mrs. Llewellyn Hanson of Appleton, ME; Mrs. William Calderwood of Lincolnville.

Mark was killed in action at the Battle of Gettysburg 3 July 1863. He left no widow or child under 16. He enrolled in Co. B, 19th Maine Infantry 19 August 1862 at Lincolnville, ME. Mark was born in Lincolnville 10 August 1843.

There is a marriage certificate in the file documenting the marriage of Sedate Wadsworth to Dolly Neal in Lincolnville 25 March 1825. Sedate died in Searsmont, ME 3 January 1894. Dolly died there 9 Decemeber 1884, and was buried in her husband's field about 11 Dec 1884. In a letter written 8 Aug 1883, Sedate has 1 son and 2 daughters living. His son Hezekiah resides in Piscataquis Co.
