Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of Daniel Whitney and Dorothy Tainter, his wife (b. 1706); William Clark

Joel Coolidge, (1759-1841), served as private in the Burgoyne campaign, and as corporal in Capt.
Joshua Leland's company at the Rhode Island Alarm, 1780. He was born at Sherborn, and died at
Framingham.
Joshua Whitney, (1737-1809), commanded a company at the Rhode Island Alarm, 1778, in Col.
Josiah Whitney's regiment. He was born at Watertown, and died at Worcester.
Daniel Whitney, (1700-75), turned out from Watertown at the Lexington Alarm. The
over-excitement caused his death.
Richard Fisk, (1750-1824), was chosen lieutenant, 1776, promoted captain, 1777, of the Sixth
Middlesex County Regiment. [p.53] He resigned, 1779, on account of ill health. He was born and
died at Framingham.
William Clark, (1716-1801), served on the Committee of Correspondence. He was one of
thirty-seven volunteers from Newton who turned out at the Lexington Alarm under Capt.
Amariah Fuller. He died at Barre.

Ananias Tubbs, (1732-1828), enlisted under Capt. Benedict Arnold, 1775, marched through the
wilderness of Maine, was wounded and taken prisoner at Quebec. His wife carded, spun and
wove the cloth for his outfit on this perilous march. When he was a prisoner she made a visit to
him, riding on horseback to Quebec from Gilsam, N. H., where he was born. He died at
Northfield, Vermont.

and Saratoga. He was born at Lunenburg, Mass., and died at Peterboro, N. H.
Ephraim Goss, (1767-1840), at the age of fifteen, enlisted for three years. He was born at
Amherst, where he died. His wife lived to be 105 and was a pensioner until 1875.

Robert Williams, (1753-1834), served as paymaster and quartermaster in the Continental Army
until the close of the war. He was born at Boston and when he died there he was treasurer of the
State Society of the Cincinnati.
Nathan Jennings, Jr., served from Williston in the Connecticut Continental Line during the
Revolution. He received [p.255] a pension and was on the rolls as a private of Tolland county in
1840 at the age of 86.

Eleazer Bulkley, (1763-1843) at the age of fourteen, enlisted on the privateer ôDefenceö which
captured numerous prizes. He reenlisted in the militia and received a pension for service on land
and sea.
David Beers, (1746-1826), served in the Northern Department, 1775 and 1776, was on guard at
Fort Stanwix in Capt. Albert Chapman's company. He was a pensioner by the act of 1818. He was
born at Fairfield, where he died.

Henry Morgan, (1741-1808), who had fought in the early wars, was at Lexington and Bunker
Hill. He served at Ticonderoga in Col. Asa Whitcomb's regiment, and under [p.340] Col. John
Buttrick, in Rhode Island. He was born at Braintree, Mass., and died at Plymouth, Vt.
