Wife of Oliver Lewis Dean.
Descendant of Samuel Dodge and of Jacob Clock, of New York.
Daughter of Lemuel Whitney Clough and Caroline Clock, his wife.
Granddaughter of Abraham Clock and Margaret Dodge (b. 1787), his wife.
Gr.-granddaughter of Jacob Clock and Hannah Forbes, his wife; Samuel Dodge and Deborah North, his wife, m. 1769.
Samuel Dodge, (1740-1800), served in a company of grenadiers, and was with Gates in the Burgoyne campaign. His home in Ulster county, was destroyed, 1779, by the Tories and Indians, but his wife and five children escaped.
Jacob Clock, (1738-1811), served in the New York levies. He was born in New York City, where he died.

Descendant of Rev. William Johnston and of Sergt. Witter Johnston, of New York.
Daughter of Robert Blair and Jane Johnston, his wife.
Granddaughter of Rev. James Henry Johnston and Eliza Grover, his wife.
Gr.-granddaughter of Witter Johnston and Jane Campbell, his wife.
Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of William Johnston and Anne Witter Cummings, his wife.
William Johnston, (1713-83), was a patriot preacher who had the courage of his convictions which made him obnoxious to the Tories and Indians. The manuscript of his Thanksgiving [p.231] sermon delivered, 1782, was shown at the Sidney Centennial Jubilee, 1872.
Witter Johnston, (1753-1839), was a pioneer of Cherry Valley, gave valuable service to the close of the war and was among those who dined with Washington when he visited that locality, 1783. He was placed on the pension roll of Delaware county, 1831, for service of private and sergeant in the New York Continental Line.

Gr.-granddaughter of Wilmarth Southwick and Hannah Sampson, his wife.
[p.277] Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of Solomon Southwick and Ann Carpenter Gardner, his wife.
Solomon Southwick, (1731-97), was the editor and proprietor of the Newport ôMercury,ö and the motto for the journal was ôUndaunted by Tyrants, we'll die or be free.ö He served as commissary general of issues for the colony and was one of the committee of four to receive Washington, 1781. He was born in Newport, where he died, and upon his monument is inscribed the service of a scholar and patriot.

James Green, (1728-1809), was senior captain of the Second Connecticut Militia Regiment of Light Horse through the war. He was born in Barnstable, Mass.; died in East Haddam, Conn.
William Webb, (1746-1832), served in the Suffolk county, New York regiment at the battle of Long Island.

Jonathan Whitney, (1737-92), served as sergeant, 1775, and as captain, 1780, of Massachusetts militia.
