3689 I. Esther Whitney, b. at Reading, Conn., "September 29, 1788, at one of the Clock, in ye after noon"; went with her parents to Fairfield, Vt., where she married, in Jan.1809, Joseph Soule, a merchant, of Fairfield, who was born at Dover, N. Y., 3 Oct. 1779, son of Joseph and Eunice Soule. They died in Fairfield (he, 25 Aug. 1863; she, 6 June 1870), and were buried about two and a half miles south from the centre of the town. He volunteered under Parson Wooster, and took a part in the battle of Plattsburgh, in the war of 1812. He represented his town in the Legislature of Vermont for several years, and was town-clerk for forty years. 10017
3690 II. Silas Whitney, b. at Fairfield, Vt., "August ye 7 day, A.D. 1791, at Eleven of the Clock Afternoon"; and died when about eight years old.
3691 III. Clarissa Whitney, was killed, when young, by the kick of a horse.
3692 IV. Harriet Whitney, b. at Reading, Conn. (var. Fairfield, Vt), 22 Nov. 1795; married at Fairfield, 7 Ap. 1820, Salmon Soule, 2d, a farmer, who was born 25 Jan. 1795. She died 6 Jan. 1842. He had a second wife; and lived, in 1873, near the residence of Sherwood Whitney, about two and a half miles west from the centre of Fairfield. 10028
