Vol. 3, No. 1 We will begin the 1900 Soundex of New York. This is a wonderful tool for researchers, and not used as much as it should be. Not that we have shortened the information, but we have only indicated a relationship other than son, daughter, or wife. So, assume this is the case unless so noted. It was a horrible job copying this census. Note that the county where the individual lived is in parenthesis, and town is listed if possible. Place where born is beside the age of the person. If the person was born before 1850 we have called attention to it in particular. AMANDA WHITNEY 1840, 60 NY (Tioga), (Genesee) Leroy Augustus Tryon, son-in-law. Said Lot containing by estimation seventy one and a half acres be the same more or less.

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises to him, the said Joshua and to his heirs and assigns forever to his arid their own proper benefit and behoof, and further moved the said David Whitney do for myself and my heirs covenant with the said Joshua and his heirs and assigns that at and until the ensealing of these presents I am well seized of the premises as aforesaid. I further bind my self my heirs etc. to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises to him the said Joshua Whitney and to his heirs forever against all claims and demands of any person or persons by or under me in my name or stead forever.
