Jump to navigationJump to searchSandwich was created from the area known as Shawme in 1639. Land was acquired from Marshpee in 1811, 1859, and 1860. Part was given to Mashpee in 1872. A section split off as Bourne in 1884. Territory was ceded to Mashpee in 1887, and again in 1905. Part was given to Barnstable in 1916.
