Abner6 Whitney (Abner5, Jonas4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of Abner5 and Esther (Jackson) Whitney, was born 19 Jul 1780, Roxbury, MA, and died 27 Dec 1866.

He married, 20 Jan 1805, Springfield, VT, Polly White.[1] She was born about 1786, and died Mar 1851, Orange, MA, aged 64 years, of fits.[2]

He was a farmer and resided Orange, MA.

He was a grantee 1824-1845, and a grantor 1825-1846, New Salem, MA.[3]

ii. Arathusa Whitney, b. ca. 28 Feb 1807, Orange, MA; d. 17 Dec 1888, Orange, MA, aged 81 years 9 months 17 days, of old age; bur. New Salem, MA;[5] m. Samuel Adams; son James W. resided Orange, MA.
iii. Alexander Shumway Whitney, b. ca. 1817, MA; m. Mehitable Davis.
iv. Harrison H. Whitney, b. 31 Oct 1819; m. Onda Kendall.
v. Emily A. Whitney, b. ca. 14 Jul 1819, Orange, MA; d. 8 Aug 1890, Orange, MA, aged 71 years 24 days, of inflammation of the stomach;[6] m. Thomas Tenney; resided Orange, MA.
vi. Harriett Whitney, b. -----; no record found; d. before 1866, without heirs.
vii. Charles Whitney, b. ca. 1829; d. Mar 1851, Orange, MA, aged 21 years, of shot accident.[7]
