Arthur Giles8 Whitney (Alfred7, Abel6, Aaron5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Alfred7 and Lydia Elvira (Osgood) Whitney, was born 1 Feb 1857, Boston, MA,[1] and died after 1930.

He married firstly, 23 Mar 1887, Cambridge, MA, Maud W. Nutting, daughter of John D. and Elinor (Grove) Nutting.[2] She was born about 1868, Cambridge, MA, and died 27 Oct 1890, Brookline, MA, aged 23 years 1 month 12 days, of phthisis pulmonalis.[3]

He married secondly, 16 Nov 1892, Boston, MA (also recorded Brookline, MA), Louisa M. (Nowell) Slade, daughter of John and Sarah (-----) Nowell.[4] She was born about 1860, Fall River, MA. She had had five children, all living, in 1900, of which only two were Whitneys.
