Asa Williams⁹ Whitney (James Shields⁸, Asa⁷, Asa⁶, Levi⁵, Daniel⁴, Jonathan³, Jonathan², John¹), son of James Shields⁸ and Elizabeth Field (Knap) Whitney, was born 31 May 1861, Philadelphia, PA.

He married, 24 Sep 1890, Helen Frances Stebbins. She was born 28 May 1864.

He was a chemist; resided Wallingford, PA.
