Baruch Beckett7 Whitney (Joseph6, Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Joseph6 and Esther (Crittenden) Whitney, was born about 1811, Utica, NY, was baptized 8 Jul 1813, 1st Presbyterian Church of Utica, Utica, Oneida Co., NY, and died 26 Jul 1877, Hubbardston, MA, aged 65 years, of general dropsy.[1]

He married firstly, Orilla Vaud, daughter of William Vaud. She was born 9 Nov 1825, Groton, VT, and died 23 Aug 1867, Gardner, MA, aged 41 years 9 months 14 days, of mortification.[2]

He married secondly, 4 Oct 1868, Gardner, MA, Mary A. Tenney, daughter of John and Arvilla (-----) Tenney.[3] She was born about 7 Oct 1850, Temple, NH, and died 31 Aug 1870, Gardner, MA, aged 19 years 10 months 24 days, of puerperal anemia.[4]

He married thirdly, 10 Feb 1873, Gardner, MA [also recorded in Hubbardston, MA], Elmira/Almira E. Greenwood, daughter of Horace and Elmira (-----) Greenwood.[5] She was born about 1844, Hubbardston, MA.[6] She married secondly, 26 Nov 1879, Gardner, MA, Charles F. Doe, son of Amasa and Mary J. (-----) Doe, born about 1848, Parsonsfield, ME.[7]

His name is also recorded as Barak.

iii. Orilla Augusta Whitney, b. 5 Sep 1873, Gardner, MA;[11] d. 15 Dec 1873, Gardner, MA, aged 3 months 5 days, of inflammation of the bowels.[12]
iv. Horace Joseph Whitney, b. 27 Apr 1875, Gardner, MA;[13] d. 30 Jul 1876, Hubbardston, MA, aged 1 year 3 months 3 days, of inflammation of the throat.[14]
v. Viola Estella Whitney, b. 30 Nov 1877, Hubbardston, MA;[15] d. 8 Feb 1898, Hubbardston, MA, aged 20 years 2 months 19 daus, of "Gadley meningitis special".[16]
