Family:Whitney, Carlos (1831-1884)

Carlos⁷ Whitney (Aaron⁶, Benjamin⁵, Joseph⁴, Joseph³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Aaron⁶ and Betsey (Parker) Whitney, was born 5 May 1831, Tunbridge, VT ("Cowlas"),^[1] and died 8 Nov 1884, West Fairlee, VT.

He married, 28 Dec 1857, Helen M. Corwin, daughter of John and Clarissa (Thompson) Corwin. She was born 18 Jul 1837, Tunbridge, VT, and died 21 Jan 1901, Somerville, MA, aged 63 years 6 months 7 days, of La Grippe and bronchitis.^[2]

He was born on Whitney Hill, Tunbridge, where his father settled in the wilderness. In 1868 he moved to West Fairlee and engaged in the provision business, and there he died. He resided West Fairlee, Vermont.

i.	Harlie Aaron8 Whitney, b. 5 May 1859, Tunbridge, VT;[3] m. Lizzie F. Marston.
ii.	Carrie Amanda Whitney, b. 16 Sep 1862, Tunbridge, VT;[4] resided West Fairlee, VT. She was educated at the public schools in West Fairlee and the Thetford academy. Later she went to the Vermont Methodist seminary, at Montpelier, where she spent three years, and afterwards to Boston, to study music. A fall at school prevented the work which she had hoped to accomplish.
iii.	Elmer Frank Whitney, b. 10 Jul 1865, Tunbridge, VT;[5] d. 9 Apr 1881.
