Charles Whitney, parentage unknown, was born 7 Nov 1769, Westminster, MA, and died 26 Oct 1836. He was buried in Morey Hill Civil War Cemetery, Hope, ME.
Marriage intentions were published 15 Apr 1797, Concord, MA, for him "of Duck-Trap" (now Lincolnville, ME) and Polly Heywood "of Concord",[1] daughter of Danforth and Abigail (Barker) Heywood. She was born 16 Jan 1766, Concord, MA, and died 7 Jun 1847, Hope, ME.
On 4 May 1798, he purchased lot No. 113, Barrettston, ME, containing 125 acres, from Daniel Mansfield of Camden and Jacob Mansfield of Barretston for $312.50.
On 11 Mar 1801, he sold lot no. 113 to Levi Whitney of Barrettston, for $300.
On 27 Mar 1801, he bought lot No, 33 containing 20 acres from Eli Whitcomb.

Notes
Based on the fact that he and Levi7 Whitney both lived in Barretston, ME in 1800 and Hope, ME, in 1810, it seems likely that they were brothers. The fact that he named a son Silas is further support of that theory, since if it be accepted, Silas would be the name of one of their brothers.
