Notes

In her marriage record, on 16 Jun 1897, Hopedale (recorded in Upton), to Joseph Dipper, Bertha L. Whitney is given as aged 19, born in Upton, with parents Daniel and Lovica Brown Whitney.[10] She was a boarder in Daniel's household in 1880, not a daughter, and she was far too young to be the daughter of this couple. Furthermore, her father is listed as born in Canada, her mother in MA. Her death record says she, Bertha Lillian (Whitney) Dipper, was born 10 Jan 1878, Upton, MA, and died 14 Nov 1910, Upton, MA, aged 32 years 10 months 4 days, of papillo-adenoma, parents unknown.[11] She was buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton, MA.
