David5 Whitney (Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Nathaniel4 and Mercy (Robinson) Whitney, was born 1716, Watertown, MA, baptized 6 Nov 1726, Weston, MA, about -- years old,[1] and died 19 Apr 1754, Natick, MA.[2]

On 12 Apr 1731, Weston, MA, David Whitney, in his 15th year, son of Nathaniel Whitney, late of Weston, deceased, chose as his guardian Abra. Gregory of Weston, husbandman. On 12 Apr 1731, Weston, MA, Abaham Gregory, husbandman, of Weston, was appointed guardian of David Whitney, in his 15th year, son of Nathaniel Whitney, late of Weston, deceased, and posted bond with Thomas Spring, housewright, of Weston, surety; witnessed by Mercy Oliver.

He married, 17 Nov 1743, Needham, MA, Mehitable Parker,[3] daughter of John and Mary (-----) Parker. She was born 12 Mar 1718/9, Needham, MA, and died 21 May 1761, Needham, MA. She married secondly, 27 Oct 1757, Needham, MA, Josiah Ware "of Needham",[4] son of Nathaniel and Mary (Wheelock) Ware, as his third wife.

He was admitted to the church on 16 May 1736, Weston, MA.[5]

Pierce says the following:[6]

DAVID WHITNEY, b. in Watertown, Mass., in 1716; m. in Needham, Nov. 17, 1743, Mehitable PARKER. She m. Oct. 27, 1757, Josiah WARE (his third wife), b. Mar. 21, 1707; d. 1798 in Needham. He was born in Watertown, Mass.; was left fatherless at the age of 17, at which time a guardian was appointed for him (Middlesex Probate, 1731, No. 17631). He resided nearly all his life in Needham, but died in Natick, Mass. David WHITNEY, who married Mehitable PARKER, that son of Nathaniel and Mercy (ROBINSON) of Weston, whom Wm. L. WHITNEY names as in his 15th year in 1731 (No. 243, p. 26). A glance at Bond, p. 965, No 107, shows that Nathaniel, eldest son of Nathaniel and Mercy*, named his third son for this youngest brother David; while David, who was not much older than his nephews, and possibly lived among them after his father's death in 1730, out of five children of his own, transmitted the names of his nephews, Ephraim and Oliver, and of his mother, Mercy. Mehitable, the mother, died bef. 1764, for Apr. 19 of that year Josiah married for fourth wife, Sibel ROBINSON; no ch. He d. Apr. 19, 1754; res. Needham and Natick, Mass.
