Ebenezer5 Whitney (Jason4, Mark3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jason4 and Lois (Fisher) Whitney, was born 2 Mar 1784, Natick, MA,[1] and died 23 Sep 1855, Wayland, MA.[2].

He married firstly, 8 Apr 1807, Natick, MA, Mary Brown,[3] daughter of Aaron and Martha (Walker) Brown. She was born 1 Aug 1785, Framingham, MA, and died 22 Jul 1822, Natick, MA, aged 37 years.[4]

He married secondly, 10 Nov 1822, Natick, MA, Joanna Law "of Acton",[5] daughter of Thomas and Rachel (Johnson) Law. She was born about Nov 1804, Acton, MA (birth not recorded), and died 4 Oct 1883, Wayland, MA, aged 78 years 11 months, of dropsy.[6]

He remarried soon after the death of his first wife in July of 1822, having a small baby and other children in the house.

Pierce says the following:[7]

He was born in Natick, Mass., and after his marriage resided on the BEAL farms in that town and at East Sudbury. Later he lived in Wayland. Was an innkeeper and proprietor of a line of stages at Natick.

v. Nancy Childs Whitney, b. 20 Jun 1822, Natick, MA;[13] m. 17 Sep 1845, Franklin, MA, Ebenezer Nelson Holmes,[14] b. ca. 1815; he appears as Nelson Holmes and E. Nelson Holmes in some records. They removed to Wisconsin.

Wilson "of Brighton".[17] She was born 6-1/4 months after marriage of parents - the second marriage for Ebenezer 10 Nov 1822, after his first wife died in July of 1822 with a month old baby in the house. Perhaps Joanna was a housekeeper/nurse brought in to care for the children left motherless.
ii. Sally Cummings Whitney, b. 6 Jul 1824, Natick, MA;[18] d. 7 Dec 1825, Natick, MA, aged 17 months.[19]
iii. Hirum Ebenezer Whitney, b. 3 Jun 1826, Natick, MA;[20] d. aft. 1855; unmarried.
iv. Sally Cummings Whitney, b. 3 Apr 1828, Natick, MA;[21] d. 26 Aug 1906, Wayland, MA; "Sarah" m. 21 May 1851, Sudbury, MA, Evinson Stone, b. ca. 1825, Northborough, MA, son of Nevinson Stone.[22]
