Elisha Whitney, parentage unknown, was born say 1775, and died unknown. His son's death record says he was born in New London, probably the one in Connecticut.

He married, Lydia Bass, daughter of Alden and Christina (Burns) Bass. She was born 5 May 1780, Torbrook, NS, and died 10 Oct 1860. Her son's death record says she was born in Dorchester, probably the one in Massachusetts, but it was her father who was from there, not her.

She was a descendant of John Alden of the Mayflower in the following way:

  1. John Alden, m. Priscilla Mullins
  2. Ruth Alden, m. John Bass
  3. Joseph Bass, m. Mary Belcher
  4. Joseph Bass, m. Elizabeth Breck
  5. Joseph Bass, m. Elizabeth Searle
  6. Alden Bass, m. Christina Burns
  7. Lydia Bass, m. Elisha Whitney

Children of Elisha and Lydia (Bass) Whitney (probably incomplete):

i. Thomas Hendly Whitney, b. ca. Jun 1803, Annapolis, NS; m. Salome P. Kniffin.
