Family:Whitney, Elwin F. (1859-1894)
Elwin F.8 Whitney (Barnabas7, Paul6, Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Barnabas7 and Emily (Bracey) Whitney, was born about 8 Aug 1859, Canada, and died 15 Jan 1894, Ashburnham, MA, aged 33 years 10 months 7 days, of typhoid pneumonia (see Notes below). He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, MA.
He "Edwin" married, 6 Nov 1883, Leominster, MA, Ida Frances Danforth, daughter of Albert and Almira L. Fostina (Attleton) Danforth. She was born 6 Nov 1860, Bolton, MA, and died after 1940. She m.(2) 1 Jan 1895, Leominster, MA, Edward C. Harrington, b. ca. 1861, Scranton, PA, son of James B. and Luanda I. (-----) Harrington.
He was probably the "Alsain F. Whitney" from the 1861 census.
Children of Elwin F.8 and Ida F. (Danforth) Whitney:
i. Mabel Fostina Whitney, b. 15 Sep 1885, Leominster, MA; d. 10 Sep 1886, Leominster, MA, aged 11 months 25 days, of congestion of lungs. ii. Ralph Albert Whitney, b. 13 Jun 1887, Leominster, MA; m. 15 Aug 1908, Leominster, MA, Susie Edna Mager, b. ca. 1887, NS, dau. of Edward D. and Emma C. (Seamond) Mager. iii. Florence M. Whitney, b. Dec 1889, MA.
Elwin F. Whitney's death record calls his father Elwin O. Whitney, born Calais, ME, but I believe that that is inaccurate. No such person can be found, and all other elements of the record agree with the data for a son of Barnabas Whitney, as placed above. Furthermore, both are buried in Lot 169, Section 2, Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, MA.
