Ezekiel6 Whitney (Ezekiel5, John4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Ezekiel5 and Catherine (Draper) Whitney,[1] was born 13 Apr 1768, Watertown, MA,[2] and died Dec 1830.[3]

He, "Jun., of Watertown," married firstly, 12 Sep 1790, Boston, MA, Ruth Gilbert.[4] daughter of Solomon and Lydia (Lincoln) Gilbert.[5] She was born 3 Dec 1765, Sharon, MA;[6] and died 29 Oct 1798.[7]

On 2 Jun 1793, Watertown, MA, Kathy, wife of Ezekiel Whitney, Jr., owned the covenant.[8] This seems to be an error for "Ruthy", not "Kathy"; or else for "Sr.", not "Jr."

Marriage intentions were published 26 Apr 1799, Watertown, MA, for him "Jr." and Catharine Anson "both of Watertown".[9] He, "Jr.," married secondly, 16 May 1799, Watertown, MA, Catharine Anson "both of Watertown",[10] parentage, unknown (but see Notes below). She was born about 13 Jan 1771, Cambridge, MA (according to death record), and died 29 Jul 1855, Boston, MA, aged 84 years 6 months 16 days, of old age, "of Ezekiel". She was buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.[11]

Notes

Son Jeremiah's second marriage gives his mother's maiden name as Catherine Piper. The other children's marriage and death records do not report her maiden name. There was a Catherine "Katy" Piper, born Acton, MA, who had a son William Anson/Ranson, born 16 May 1797, Concord, MA, and died 3 Mar 1880, Concord, MA, aged 82 years 9 months 13 days, of old age. William's father was ----- Anson/Ranson, born England. It could be that her first husband died, and she married secondly Ezekiel Whitney.
