George Francis8 Whitney (Samuel7, David6, Samuel5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Samuel7 and Fanny (Hudson) Whitney, was born 18 Jun 1834, Shrewsbury, MA, and died 4 Dec 1862, Shrewsbury, MA, aged 28 years 5 months 15 days, of valvular disease of heart.[1]

He married, 17 Nov 1859, Shrewsbury, MA, Lucy M. Rice, of Westboro, daughter of Loammi and Isabel (Fassett) Rice.[2] She was born 11 Feb 1842, Westborough, MA, and died 20 Mar 1867, Worcester, MA, aged 25 years 1 month 9 days, of dropsy on heart.[3] She married secondly, 26 Apr 1866, Worcester, MA, Joseph W. Jefts, son of Joseph Franklin and Adeline E. (Pendleton) Jefts, b. 25 Sep 1843, Brookline, NH.[4]

His widow was appointed administratrix of his estate, 3 Feb 1863. He resided Shrewsbury, MA.
