George W. Whitney (Moses), son of Moses and Harriet M. (-----) Whitney), was born about 1841, Barre, MA, and died 7 Apr 1898, Boston, MA, aged 55 years, of valvular disease of heart.[1]

He married firstly, 12 Feb 1863, Blackstone, MA, Eliza G. Washburn.[2]

He married secondly, 23 Jan 1869, Woonsocket, RI (also recorded at Worcester, MA), Ida Eliza Hawes,[3] daughter of Nathaniel S. and Catherine (Milliken) Hawes.[4] She was born about 1851, RI. Apparently they were divorced, since she married secondly, 3 Mar 1872, Foster, RI, Allen Braton Shippee.[5]

He married thirdly, 16 Jun 1871, Providence, RI, Sarah Esther (Lewis)(Saunders) Steadman, daughter of Nathan Wilcox and Mercy (Hall) Lewis.[6] She was born 8 Apr 1839, Westerly, RI, and died 13 Mar 1904. She had married firstly, Charles Saunders. She had married secondly, George W. Steadman.

He married fourthly, 22 Aug 1889, Boston, MA, Jennie F. (Lane) Wait, dau. of Charles and Sarah J. (Bodwell) Lane.[7] She was born about 1847-1849, Laconia, NH. She had married firstly, 31 Oct 1867, Laconia, NH, A. Henry Waitt.

i. Harriet E. Whitney, b. 2 Oct 1865, Blackstone, MA [given name omitted];[8] m. 13 Feb 1888, Woonsocket, RI, Azaire Sylvestre, son of Edward and Louise (-----) Sylvestre.[9]
