Hachaliah⁸ Whitney (Cheeney⁷, Nathan⁶, Jonathan⁵, Jonathan⁴, Jonathan³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Cheeney⁷ and Olive (Colwell) Whitney, was born 30 Aug 1822, Seneca, NY, and died after 1880.

He married firstly, 15 May 1843, Matilda A. Vrooman, daughter of William Vrooman. She was born 21 Jul 1825, and died 26 Oct 1867.

He married secondly, 10 Jan 1869, Hannah C. Stevens. She was born 14 Jun 1832, and died after 1880.

He resided Seneca Castle, NY.

Frances Matilda9 Whitney, b. 28 Apr 1844; m. 13 Nov 1865, Francis Henry Carr, b. 25 Oct 1841; (1894) res., s. p., Clifton House, Chicago, IL. He was born on a farm three miles east of Canandaigua, NY; was educated at the public schools, and followed agricultural pursuits until 25 years of age. In 1865 he went to Detroit, MI, as agent for the Wheeler & Wilson Sewing Machine Company. Since then he has been in the hotel business, and is now senior member of the firm of Carr & Reeve, owners of the Clifton House, and the Normandie, in Detroit, MI, and the Bryant, at Flint, MI.
