Family:Whitney, Hugh Edward (c1818-1866)

Hugh Edward1 Whitney (Terence), son of Terence and Mary (-----) Whitney), was born about 1818, and died 11 Sep 1866, Boston, MA, aged 48 years, of dysentery.[1]

He married firstly, Ann Frances -----. She was born about 1829, Ireland, and apparently died between 1856 and 1860, probably in Boston, MA. See Notes below.

He married secondly, 23 Sep 1862, Boston, MA, Mary (Boyle) O'Brien, daughter of John and Ann or Mary (-----) Boyle.[2] She was born about 1833, Ireland, and died 8 Jun 1865, Boston, MA, aged 34 years, of phthisis.[3] She had married firstly, ----- O'Brien.

In 1848 he was a trader living at 7 Cross St., Boston, MA. In 1851 he was a clerk living at 23 High St., Boston, MA. In 1853 he was a laborer living at 47 High St., Boston, MA. In 1855 he lived at 157 Endicott St., Boston, MA. In 1862 he was a clerk. In 1863 he was a clerk living at 28 Billerica St., Boston, MA. In 1865 he was living at 13 South St., Boston, MA. In 1866 he was a salesman living at 28 Williams St.

iv. Ellen J. Whitney, b. ca. 1854, MA; d. aft. 1865; probably "Anna" in 1860.
v. Ann Whitney, b. 27 Jul 1855, Boston, MA;[8] d. 21 Jul 1855, aged 1 day, of infantile.[9]

Notes

His wife Ann may be the Ann F. (Burns) Whitney, aged 30 years, who died 30 Sep 1859, Boston, MA, aged 30 years, of consumption, daughter of Edward and Ann (-----) Burns.[11] This record says she was born in Boston. Her children's records vary between her birth in Boston and Ireland, and so do the censuses.
