Isaac3 Whitney (Benjamin2, John1), son of Benjamin2 and Mary (Poor) Whitney,[1] was born about 1702,[2] and died between 4 May 1749, the date of his will, and 23 Oct 1749, when it was proved, Hopkinton, MA.[3]

He married, 27 Sep 1722, Framingham, MA, Elizabeth Bridges,[4] daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (--?--) Bridges.[5] She was born 28 Jul 1692, Framingham, MA,[6] and died before 4 May 1749, probably Hopkinton, MA.[7]

"A deed is on file in the Middlesex Probate records of a house lot signed by Benjamin, Sr., Benjamin, Jr., Mark and Isaac. Mark lived on this homestead. A petition is also recorded, signed by Benjamin, Sr., Isaac, Benjamin, Jr., and Mark."[8]

"Benjamin WHITNEY, Jr., his brother, witnessed his will and was bondsman for executor. . . . He owned land in Hopkinton, adjoining that of his brother Mark."[9]

He left a will on 4 May 1749 at Hopkinton, MA; "of Hopkinton", yeoman; mentions dau. Judith Whitney; son Gideon Whitney (under 21); dau. Elizabeth Whitney; brother-in-law Gideon Bridges and son Gideon Whitney, executors; witnesses Benjamin Whitney, Jr., Ebenezer Goddard, and Edward Goddard. His estate was probated 23 Oct 1749 at Hopkinton, MA. The will was proved and executors were bonded, with Ebenezer Goddard, gent., and Benjamin Whitney, husbandman, of Framingham, sureties. On 9 Nov 1749, Hopkinton, MA, Ebenezer Howe, Judith Whitney, and Elizabeth How consent to the will of their father, Isaac Whitney.[10]

1.^  His close association with Benjamin2 Whitney, Sr., Benjamin3 Whitney, Jr., and Mark3 Whitney, as revealed by the records above, convince me that his parentage is likely by a preponderance of the evidence.

2.^  This birth date is an estimate based on his marriage date, but the age of his wife would suggest an earlier date.
