James Whitney (James, [poss.] Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of James and Deborah (Murch) Whitney, was born Jun 1790, Gorham, ME, and died 22 Mar 1877, North Yarmouth, ME, aged 86 years 9 months.[1]

He married, 20 Mar 1821, Gray, ME, or 20 Mar 1823, Cumberland, ME, Lucy Mountfort, daughter of John and Jerusha (Field) Mountfort. She was born about Sep 1803, and died 21 May 1894, North Yarmouth, ME, aged 90 years 8 months.[2] James and Lucy are buried in the Universalist Cemetery, Cumberland, ME.

ii. Loemina Whitney, b. 2 Oct 1825, Cumberland, ME; d. 1910; m. (int. 27 Feb 1855, Falmouth, ME) Richard Mountfort,[3] b. 12 Dec 1825, Falmouth, ME,[4] d. 1911. Both are buried in the Universalist Cemetery, Cumberland, ME.
iii. David Mountfort Whitney, b. 12 Sep 1827, Cumberland, ME; m. Emeline M. Dunham.
iv. Franklin Whitney, b. 21 Sep 1830, Cumberland, ME; m. Mary Head.
v. John Mountfort Whitney, b. 25 Jul 1833, Cumberland, ME; d. 7 Jun 1855, North Yarmouth, ME;[5] bur. Universalist Cemetery, Cumberland, ME.
vi. Esther Ann Whitney, b. 20 Oct 1835, Cumberland, ME; "of Cumberland" m. (int. 21 Jul 1860, Falmouth, ME) Joseph Brooks "of Falmouth".[6]
