James7 Whitney (Benjamin6, Jonathan5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Benjamin6 and Anna (Bangs) Whitney, was born 11 Jan 1809, Buxton, ME,[1] and died 15 Apr 1864, Denmark, ME.

He "Mr." "of Bridgeton" married, 26 Apr 1832, Sweden, ME, "Miss" Rachel Webster Holden "of Sweden",[2] daughter of Peter and Hannah Watts (Brintnal) Holden. She was born about 1812, Sweden, ME, and died after 1880.

He resided in Denmark, Oxford Co., ME, in the censuses of 1850 and 1860, where he was a farmer.

i. John Colby8 Whitney, b. 24 May 1835, Bridgton, ME; d. 1 Mar 1919, prob. Standish, ME; m. Sarah Elizabeth Woodbury.
ii. Eli W. Whitney, b. 15 Aug 1839, Bridgton, ME; d. after 1860. Not found in 1870 or 1880 censuses.
iii. Elden S. Whitney, b. 9 Jul 1843, prob. Denmark, ME; d. 15 May 1921, prob. Merrimac, MA.; m.(1) Arevesta Stillings; m.(2) Jennie E. Chase.
iv. Zebina G. Whitney, b. ca. 1847, prob. Denmark, ME; m. Kate S. Pingree.
v. Eleanor F. Whitney, b. 1850, prob. Denmark, ME; "of Denmark" m. 17 Jan 1872, Bridgton, ME, S. E. Kimball "of Bridgton".[3]
