James Whitney (Benjamin, Samuel Kellogg, Benjamin), son of Benjamin and Abigail (Fancher) Whitney, was born 16 Apr 1824, and died 1 May 1893.

He married, 15 Nov 1848, New Canaan, CT, Sarah A. Tuttle,[1] daughter of Samuel P. and Harriet (Betts) Tuttle. She was born 15 Feb 1829, New Canaan, CT, and died after 1880.

Children of James and Sarah A. (Tuttle) Whitney:

i. Harriet A. Whitney, b. ca. Aug 1849, CT; d. after 1910, then unmarried.
ii. Albert B. Whitney, b. ca. 1856, CT; not in family in 1870.
iii. Martha Ann Whitney, b. 4 Jan 1862, CT; d. 24 Jun 1943, Stamford, CT; m. 18 Jun 1883, Darien, CT, William Weed.
iv. Bertha Adele Whitney, b. 30 Jan 1867, Darien, CT; d. 15 May 1949. Stamford, CT; m. 15 Oct 1890, Alton Betts Chedester.
