John6 Whitney (Amos5, Amos4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Amos5 and Mary (Smith) Whitney, was born 1 May 1791, Buxton, ME, and died 2 Oct 1877, Newburgh, ME.

He married, 25 Dec 1813, Newburgh, ME, Betsey Fairbanks, daughter of Joel and Susan (Moffatt) Fairbanks. She was born 1 May 1795, Parsonfied, ME, and died 4 May 1877, Newburg, ME.

Lived most of his life at Newburgh, ME, where he was a farmer, and removed to Carmel, ME late in his life.
