John Gates8 Whitney (Ebenezer7, Ebenezer6, Ebenezer5, Ezekiel4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1), son of Ebenezer7 and Anis (Kingsbury) Whitney, was born 10 Aug 1820, Millbury, MA,[1] and died 30 Oct 1906. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Independence, IA.[2]

He "of Willimantic" married, 3 May 1847, Avon, CT, Ann Eliza Woodruff "of Avon",[3] daughter of John F. and possibly Catherine (Wheaton) Woodruff. She was born 21 Apr 1826, Guilford, CT, and died 25 Jun 1907. She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Independence, IA.[4]

He resided Independence, IA.
