John Reed8 Whitney (John7, Phinehas6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of John7 and Sarah (Chapman) Whitney, was born 5 Jul 1832, Waterford, Washington County, Ohio, and died 12 Apr 1910, Nemaha County, Nebraska, aged 78 years 9 months 23 days. He was buried in Grant Cemetery, Nemaha County, Nebraska.

He married firstly, about 1857, DeKalb County, Illinois, Lucinda Maltby Heiner, parentage unknown. She was born 24 Dec 1826, Vermont, and died 18 Nov 1885, Spring Creek Precinct, Nemaha County, Nebraska.

He married secondly, about 1887, Julie (Elrod) Biggs. She was born Nov 1833, IN, and died after 1900.

John Reed8 and Julie (Elrod)(Biggs) Whitney had no children.
