Joseph5 Whitney (Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Benjamin4 and Mercy (Hinckley) Whitney, was born 1 May 1770, Phillips, ME,[1] or 1 May 1770, Lisbon, ME, and died 29 Jul 1858, Maineville, OH.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 10 Feb 1797, Topsham, ME, for him"of Little River Plantation" and Rebecca Stinchfield, "of New Gloucester".[3] Marriage intentions were published 10 Feb 1797, Lisbon, ME, for him "of Little River" and Rebecca Stinchfield "of New Gloucester". He married firstly, 2 Mar 1796, New Gloucester, ME, Rebecca Stinchfield[4], daughter of John and Mehitabel (Winship) Stinchfield. He married, 8 Nov 1797, Lisbon, ME, Rebecca Stinchfield, daughter of John and Mehitabel (Winship) Stinchfield. She was born 12 Jun 1775, Phillips, ME, or 12 Jun 1775, New Gloucester, ME, and died 10 Oct 1826, Maineville, OH.

He married secondly, 9 Dec 1827, Maineville, OH, Sarah Ayer. She was born 1782, VA,

He was a carpenter. They lived at Phillips, ME.
