Joseph Whitney ([prob.] Hezekiah), probably son of Hezekiah and Susanna (White) Whitney, was born 1798, MA, died 1871, Mexico, NY, and was buried Wellwood Cemetery, Mexico, NY.

He married, 3 Jun 1822, Whitingham, VT, Jerusha Sumner,[1] daughter of Levi and Polly (Jackson) Sumner. She was born 1798, and 1852, and was buried Wellwood Cemetery, Mexico, NY.

Children of Joseph and Jerusha (Sumner) Whitney:

i. (daughter) Whitney, b. 1820-1825.
ii. Lucy T. Whitney, b. 1824, Mexico, NY; d. 1890, Mexico, NY; bur. Wellwood Cemetery, Mexico, NY; m. John C. Kenyon.
iii. (son) Whitney, b. 1825-1830; not in family in 1840.
iv. (son) Whitney, b. 1835-1840; not in family in 1850.
v. Alston C. Whitney, b. Jul 1840, NY; m. Julia Howard.

Notes

Identification of his parents rests on the facts that both families were buried in Wellwood Cemetery, and there was a son of this age in the parents' family.
