Joseph B.8 Whitney (Simeon7, Amos6, Jonathan5, Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Simeon7 and Rosanna (Smith) Whitney, was born 27 May 1850, Moscow, ME,[1] and died 1926, prob. Moscow, ME.

He married 3 May 1874, Moscow, ME, Lydia A. Stewart.[2] She was born Apr 1855, ME, and died 1919, prob. Moscow, ME.

Joseph resided in Moscow, ME in the censuses of 1850 through 1920. He was a farmer. Both he and Lydia are buried in the Bingham Village Cemetery in Bingham, ME.

Otho D. Whitney, a lifelong resident of the Moscow area, died in his sleep at his home on Sunday morning.
He was born in Moscow on 15 June 1899, the son of Joseph and Lydia Steward Whitney. Besides his widow, Mrs. Florence Whitney, he is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Myrtie Hubbard of Skowhegan, Miss Sue Whitney, and Mrs. Ellen Millet, both of Bangor; a brother, Guy Whitney of Bingham. The body will be at the Whitney home until funeral services, which will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Congregational Church in Bingham. The Rev. Arthur R. MacDougall will officiate. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Moscow.
