Notes

The name Isabinda was invented by the English actress and playwright Susanna Centlivre for a character in her 1708 play The Busie Body. In the play Isabinda is a woman who goes against her Spanish father to marry an Englishman, Charles, instead of the Spanish merchant her father has in mind for her. Isabinda was most likely an attempt to make a Spanish version of Isabella that would appear believable to 18th century audiences.
