Joseph Lorenzo8 Whitney (Paul7, Hezekiah6, Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Paul7 and Rebecca Desire (Freeman) Whitney, was born 16 Jun 1819, Salisbury, CT, and died after 1880.

He was married, 12 Sep 1849, Cornwall, CT, Elizabeth Moulton Swift.[1] She was born 30 Nov 1826, and died 29 Dec 1868.

He was a mariner until he was thirty years of age; resided Cornwall, CT.

iii. Mary Jane Whitney, b. 29 Jun 1854; living 1880, unmarried.
iv. Catherine Lucretia Whitney, b. 2 Apr 1856; d. 22 Apr 1901, CT; m. 15 May 1878, Almon Lewis Miner.
v. Joseph Ernest Whitney, b. 27 Feb 1858; living 1880, unmarried.
