Nathan3 Whitney (John2, Henry1), son of John2 and Elizabeth (Smith) Whitney,[1] was born say 1695, Norwalk, CT,[2] and died ater 1739, Ridgefield, CT.[3]

He married, about 1715, Sarah Platt, [4] daughter of John, Jr., and Sarah (Lockwood) Platt.[5] She was born 30 May 1697, Norwalk, CT,[6] and died after 1739, Ridgefield, CT.[7]

Phoenix said the following:[8]

... a farmer .... They settled in Ridgefield, Conn., on a piece of land conveyed to him, 5 Feb. 1718-19, by Joseph Keeler, Henry Whitney, and Matthew St. John, "for, and in consideration of that brotherly Love and fraternall affection we have and do bare Towards our well beloved brother, Nathan Whitney, of ye town of Ridgfield, aforesd." At a town meeting, 20 Dec. 1720, "by a Major vote Nathan Whitne was Cleared of all his rates, for ye ensueing year." He took the freeman's oath, 9 Dec. 1728, at Ridgefield, where they were living as late as 1739. The dates of their death are not known.

i. Mary4 Whitney, b. 29 Dec 1715, Ridgefield, CT;[9] m. Isaac Keeler.
ii. Eliasaph Whitney, b. 3 Feb 1716/7, Ridgefield, CT;[10] m. Mary Bishop.
iii. Eliakim Whitney, b. 13 Nov 1718, Ridgefield, CT;[11] m.(1) Mary Beachgood; m.(2) Mary (Selleck) Gorham.
iv. Sarah Whitney, b. 25 Oct 1720, Ridgefield, CT.[12] No further records of her have been found; but a paper exists, containing a list of her father's children, in which she is called "Sarah boss," indicating her marriage with a man of that name.[13]
v. Nathan Whitney, b. 13 Aug 1722, Ridgefield, CT;[14] d. young.[15]
vi. Nathan Whitney, b. 11 June 1724, Ridgefield, CT;[16] m. ----- -----.[17]
vii. Seth Whitney, b. 8 Dec 1726, Ridgefield, CT;[18] m.(1) Sarah Mow/Moe; m.(2) Elizabeth Wright; m.(3) Anna (Smith}(Jump) Trowbridge.
viii. Josiah Whitney, b. 12 Jun 1729, Ridgefield, CT;[19] no further record has been found.[20]
ix. Jeremiah Whitney, b. 18 Sep 1731;[21] m. Eva Youngs.
x. Uriah Whitney, b. 12 Nov 1737, Ridgefield, CT;[22] m.(1) Sarah Platt; m.(2) Martha Hart.
xi. Ann Whitney, b. 31 Aug 1739, Ridgefield, CT;[23] and, without doubt, died in early life.[24]
