Nathaniel Perry Whitney, parentage unknown, was born Aug 1824, MA, and died after 1905, probably in North Plymouth, Amador Co., CA. It is likely he was a son of John6 and Silence (Holbrook) Whitney (Timothy5, Daniel4, Jonathan3, Jonathan2, John1).

He married firtly, 1 Jan 1843, Grafton, MA, Sarah Dexter Brown.[1] She was born about 1821, Thomaston, ME, and died 26 Nov 1859, Westboro, MA, aged 38 years, of rheumatic fever.[2]

He married secondly, 14 Jul 1862, San Francisco, CA, Elizabeth -----. She was born about 1824, MA, and died after 1880, but before 1900, probably in Amador Co., CA.

In 1847 he was a shoemaker.

He served as a Private in Co. I, 6th California Infantry, in the Civil War. He enlisted in Company I, California 6th Infantry Regiment on 5 Aug 1864, and was mustered out on 20 Dec 1865 at Presidio, San Francisco, CA.
