Nicholas2 Whitney (Thomas1, NicholasA, BenjaminB, ThomasC) son of Thomas1 and Martha (Whitney) Whitney, was born 26 Jun 1806, Old Court, Adamstown, co. Wexford, Ireland, and died 17 Feb 1893, Lowden, Cedar Co., IA. He was buried in Lowden Cemetery, Lowden, IA.[1]

He married, 23 Nov 1839, Anglican Christ Church Cathedral, Montreal, QC, Eliza McKim,[2] daughter of .... She was born 10 May 1808, Ireland, and died 13 Nov 1879, Lowden, Cedar Co., IA. She was buried in Lowden Cemetery, Lowden, IA.[3]

From an 1893 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, publication date unknown, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Died, at Louden, Cedar Co., Iowa, Feb. 17th, 1893, of pneumonia, Nickolas Whitney in his 87th year. Mr. Whitney was a resident of Cedar Co. for over 30 years and was formerly from Canada. He left an only son John W. Whitney of this place, and two daughters, Mrs. W. F. Rice of Lexington, Neb. and Mrs. W. E. Boyd of Montreal, Canada. Mr. Whitney was at the bedside of his father when he died and returned home on Thursday last.
