Oscar Fitzoland7 Whitney (Cornelius6, Cornelius5, Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Cornelius6 and Rhoda (Gould) Whitney, was born 19 Jul 1823, Ontario, NY, and died after 1880.

He married, 30 Sep 1846, Ontario, NY, Laura Wells Whitcomb. She was born 3 Jan 1828, and died 7 Feb 1882.

He is a farmer; resided Ontario, on Ridge Road, NY, s. p.

Notes

The association Oscar Fitzoland7 Whitney above with Cornelius6 Whitney in three census years suggests a closer relationship than that of first cousins twice removed, through the Whitney lines. Possibly Cornelius's wife Millicent may have been related to Oscar's wife Laura.

Oscar Fitzalan was a character in The Children of the Abbey, a novel by the Irish romantic novelist Regina Maria Roche, first published in 1796.
