Peter5 Whitney (Josiah4, Josiah3, [prob.] Benjamin2, John1), son of Josiah4 and Mehitable (Fuller) Whitney, was born 10 Apr 1738, Willington, CT,[1] and died 19 Jun 1826, Tunbridge, VT; buried at Tunbridge, VT.[2]

He married, 21 Apr 1763, Tolland or Willington, CT, Mercy Case,[3] daughter of Jonathan and Alice (Hatch) Case. She was born 3 Aug 1745, Tolland, CT, and died 19 Apr 1819, Tunbridge, VT.

She was a descendant of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren as follows:

Pierce says the following:[4]

He was born at Willington, Conn.; married at Tolland. He was a farmer and resided at Ashford and Willington, Conn., until after the birth of his children, when he moved to Tunbridge, Orange Co., Vt. They were buried in East Bethel, Vt., the village where they had gone to church. He was a soldier in the last French war and also served in the Revolutionary war in the Conn. line. He was pensioned Apr. 6, 1818.

On -- Sep 1765, Peter Whitney and wife Mercy were admitted to the church, Willington, CT.[5]

xi. Molly Whitney, b. 16 Mar 1784 (twin). She may have been the Mary Whitney who m. 7 Aug 1808, Tunbridge, VT, Jonathan Woodman.[22]
