Family:Whitney, Phebe (1766-1843)

Phebe5 Whitney (Henry4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry5 and Elizabeth (Lobdell) Whitney, was born 16 Oct 1766, Ridgefield, CT,[1] and died 13 Oct 1843, Ridgefield, CT, aged 77 years. She was buried in the Smith Cemetery.

She married 20 Jan 1788, Ridgefield, CT, Daniel Smith,[2] son of Daniel and Mary (Smith) Smith. He was born 24 Jan 1768, Ridgefield, CT, and died 19 Jan 1835, Ridgefield, CT, aged 67 years. He was buried in the Smith Cemetery.

Phoenix says the following:

"They settled at Ridgefield, and there died .... The record of his death calls him Capt Daniel Smith.

Children of Daniel and Phebe5 (Whitney) Smith:

i. Gamaliel Smith, b. 29 Aug 1788, Ridgefield, CT; m. Polly Northrop.
ii. Daniel Smith, b. 17 May 1790, Ridgefield, CT; d. 31 Dec 1864, Ridgefield, CT; m. 13 Feb 1813, Norwalk, CT, Sarah Benedict, dau. of William and Nancy (Fitch) Benedict, of Norwalk, where she was born 17 Nov. 1790.1 They dwelt at various places in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Ohio, Alabama, and Mississippi. He died without children, ... and was buried in Titicus Cemetery. She was living at Ridgefield in July 1873. They adopted her nephew, Henry Smith, born 12 July 1821, son of Edward and Esther (Benedict) Smith.
iii. Henry Smith, b. 28 Jun 1792, Ridgefield, CT; m. Anna Rockwell.
iv. Lucy Smith, b. 18 Jun 1795, Ridgefield, CT; m. Samuel Clark.
v. Samuel Smith, b. 7 Aug 1798, Ridgefield, CT; m. Henrietta Hurlbutt.
vi. Eliza Smith, b. 14 Mar 1801, Ridgefield, CT; m. Benjamin Seymour.
vii. Phebe Smith, b. 29 Sep 1802, Ridgefield, CT; m. Orman Broadway.
viii. Mary Smith, b. 7 May 1804, Ridgefield, CT; d. 12 May 1804, Ridgefield, CT.
ix. Sarah Whitney Smith, b. 4 Feb 1806, Ridgefield, CT; m. Matthias Comstock.
x. Catharine Smith, b. 11 Jul 1807, Ridgefield, CT; m. Daniel Sholes.
