Philo7 Whitney (James6, Samuel5, Samuel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of James6 and Eunice (Johnson) Whitney, was born 27 Aug 1792, Newtown, CT, and died 6 Apr 1830, Newtown, CT, aged 38 years,[1] of an accidental skull fracture.

He married firstly, 1 Oct 1815, Newtown, CT, Jerusha Wheeler, daughter of Abram and Marcia (Botsford) Wheeler. She was born 16 Oct 1796, Newtown, CT, and died 21 Sep 1829.

He married secondly, 14 Dec 1829, Aurelia Wheeler, daughter of Abram and Marcia (Botsford) Wheeler. She was born 23 Jul 1792, Newtown, CT, and died after Sep 1874. She married secondly, 11 Jun 1837, Benjamin Curtis Glover. She married thirdly, 15 Jan 1845, Zachariah Clark.

He was a blacksmith. He resided Newtown, CT.

Phoenix says the following:

"Philo Whitney, b. in Newtown, Conn., 27 Ap. 1792; a blacksmith and farmer; married, 1 Oct. 1815, in Newtown, by Rev. Daniel Burhans, Episcopal, to Jerusha Wheeler, who was born in Newtown, 16 Oct. 1796, dau. of Abram and Marcia (Botsford) Wheeler. They settled in Newtown, where she died of fever, 21 Sept. 1829, and was buried in the Newtown Cemetery. He was married (2d), 14 Dec. 1829, at Newtown, by Rev. Daniel Burhans, Rector of Trinity Church at Newtown, to Aurelia Wheeler, who was born in Newtown, 23 July 1792, sister of his first wife. He was accidentally and instantly killed, 6 Ap. 1830, by a fracture of the skull, and was buried in the Newtown Cemetery. His widow was still living, in September 1874, with her step-daughter, Mrs. Emily (Whitney) Fairchild, in Newtown; having married (2d), 11 June 1837, Benjamin Curtis Glover, and (3d), 15 Jan. 1845, Zachariah Clark."

ii. Joseph Botsford Whitney, b. 4 Mar 1818, Newtown, CT; drowned in Croton river, 8 May or Jun 1834.[3]
iii. James Wheeler Whitney, b. 27 Nov 1819, Newtown, CT; m. Ann Maria Lewis.
iv. Emily Whitney, b. 11 Oct 1821, Newtown, CT; m. 26 Dec 1841, Newtown, CT, Le Grand Fairchild,[4] b. 1 Feb 1820, Roxbury, CT; resided Newtown, CT.
v. Aurelia Whitney, b. 26 Oct 1823, Newtown, CT; m. 24 Oct 1849, Le Roy, NY, Oliver Warner Moore; b. 26 Oct 1820, Phelps, NY; resided Le Roy, NY. He was for some time a resident of Washington, DC, and head of the Indian bureau.
vi. Ruth Ann Whitney, b. 27 May 1826, Newtown, CT; "of Newtown" m.(1) 28 Oct 1847, Newtown, CT, Truman Hubbell "of Monroe",[5] d. 1849, Newtown, CT; m.(2) 10 Jun 1850, Monroe, CT, Mark Leavenworth Hubbell; b. 13 Apr 1830; resided Bethel, CT. They settled in Monroe; moved to North Orange, NJ, 25 Sept 1851; to Hattertown, 15 July 1852; to North Orange again, 10 Aug. 1855; to Newtown again, 20 July 1856; to 5 Sanford Street, Brooklyn, NY, 1 Oct 1863; to Newtown once more, 6 Sept. 1864; and finally, 7 Oct 1866, to Bethel, CT, where they were living in 1874. He served four months in the 24th Reg., N. Y. S. Cavalry.
vii. Abraham Johnson Whitney, b. 3 Oct 1828, Newtown, CT; m. Marietta Parmelee.
