Reuben Parmenter7 Whitney (Samuel6, Aaron5, Elnathan4, Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), son of Samuel6 and Martha (Parmenter) Whitney, was born 25 Apr 1806, Jamaica, VT, died 31 Oct 1871, Southbridge, MA, aged 65 years 6 months 6 days, of consumption, pedler.[1]

He married firstly, 2 Jun 1831, Ware, MA, Rachel Ann Pierce. She was born Feb 1801, and died 10 Nov 1847, Southbridge, MA, aged 39 years, of consumption.[2]

He, of Southbridge, married secondly, 7 Sep 1848, Leicester, MA, Hannah Williams Wilson,[3] daughter of Walter and Hannah (Dana) Wilson. She was born 31 Jan 1818, Charlton, MA, and died 27 May 1858, Southbridge, MA (also recorded at Auburn, MA), aged 40 years 4 months, of consumption.[4]

He married thirdly, 10 Jun 1860, Holland, MA, Mary Lucy Wallis, daughter of John W. and Lucy W. (Shumway) Wallis.[5] She was born about 1828, MA, and died 16 Aug 1869, Southbridge, MA, aged 41 years 3 months 25 days, of consumption.[6]

He was born in Jamaica, VT, but early moved to Massachusetts. Soon after his marriage he moved to Sturbridge, MA, where he died. On account of continued sickness in his family he was not able to accumulate much, but he was noted for his sterling and unswerving honesty, and a character highly prized by his descendants. He resided Southbridge, MA.

ii. Arthur Pierce Whitney, b. 20 Jan 1842, Southbridge, MA;[8] m. Margaret Jane Milburn.

iii. Joseph Augustus8 Whitney, b. 12 Jul 1849, Southbridge, MA;[9] d. 16 Jul 1849, Southbridge, MA, aged 4 days.[10]
iv. Martha Elizabeth Whitney, b. 21 Nov 1850, Southbridge, MA;[11] d. 27 Feb 1871.
v. Mary Dana Whitney, b. -----; d. 1 year old. Possibly the same as "Martha", dau. of R. P. and Hannah Whitney, b. ca. Dec 1852, who d. 4 Oct 1853, Southbridge, MA, aged 10 months, of teething.page 167
vi. Henry Algernon Whitney, b. 11 Feb 1856, Southbridge, MA;[12] m. Jennie Florence Arnold.
