Robert Whitney, perhaps son of Robert and Elizabeth (Vaughn) Whitney of Whitney, was born say 1470.

Robert Whitney was lawfully seased in his demesne as of fee of the tenement or capital messuage with the appurtenances called Bitterleyside, in the Lordship of Pencomb. He conveyed this to Thomas Whitney and his heirs, but Thomas died without heirs, and it then went to Robert Whitney (later of Castleton).[1]

Children of Robert Whitney, maternity unknown:

i. (probably) Thomas Whitney, died without issue.
ii. Robert Whitney, b. circa 1498, m. Elizabeth verch Morgan ap William.

He is shown in two pedigrees, reprinted by Melville in The Ancestry of John Whitney; Folio 66b, page 265; Folio 65b, page 267 and he may have been "merged" with his second son, named Robert,[Robert Whitney of Castleton, Gent.] in the Visitation of London 1636, Chaundler Pedigree which states "Robert Whitney, 2 sonne of Whitney of Whitney", page 276.
