Capt. Sewell Pitt6 Whitney (Barnabas5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Barnabas5 and Sarah R. (Walker) Whitney, was born 19 Mar 1798, Pawlet, ME, and died 21 Aug 1867, Freeman, ME.

He married, 24 Oct 1816, Freeman, ME, Anna Tuttle, by James Tuttle, daughter of Archeleus and Sally V. (Winch) Tuttle. She was born 13 Oct 1799, Freeman, ME, and died 1 Sep 1876, Freeman, ME.

Sewell and Anna are buried in the North Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, ME.

He was in the war of 1812, and commanded a company of soldiers in the Mexican War. This won him the rank of "Captain Sewell Whitney". He resided Freeman, ME, where he was a farmer.
