Solomon5 Whitney (Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Nathaniel4 and Mercy (Robinson) Whitney, was born between 18 Jun 1708 and 17 Jun 1709 (calculated from age at baptism), was baptized 17 Jun 1711, Weston, MA, in 3rd year,[1] and died after 1758.

Marriage intentions for Solomon "of Weston" and Martha Fletcher "of Concord" were published 13 Feb 1731/2, Weston, MA.[2] He "of Weston" married, 5 or 7 Mar 1731/2, Weston, MA, Martha Fletcher "of Concord",[3] daughter of John and Mary (-----) Fletcher. She was born 16 May 1716, Concord, MA, and died after 1758.

Solomon Whitney owned the covenant, 25 Feb 1727/8, Weston, MA.[4] He was admitted to the church there 22 Oct 1738.[5] He removed, and was dismissed to the church in the North Precinct, 22 Apr 1750.[6]

Martha Whitney, wife of Solomon, was admitted to the church 3 Oct 1742, Weston, MA.[7] She removed, and was dismissed to the church in the North Precinct, 1750.[8]

Notes

Marriage intentions were published, 16 Sep 1762, Braintree, MA, for Sarah Whitney and David Pain, "both of Braintree", and also 4 Apr 1767, Braintree, MA (and 1 Apr 1767, Stoughton, MA), for Sarah Whitney "of Braintree" and Micajah Pope "of Stoughton"[28] There is no indication that the first marriage ever occurred. The second marriage is confirmed by the Glover Memorials, which give two children, born in Quincy, MA: John Pope; and Martha Fletcher Pope, b. 1 Nov 1767, m. Anthony Hunt of Weymouth.[29] I believe these apply to the above Sarah6 Whitney, mainly because her mother's name was Martha (Fletcher) Whitney. Why she was living in Braintree is a mystery.
