He married firstly, 5 Feb 1839, Hamtramck, MI, Amanda Martin. She died 25 May 1845.
He married secondly, 30 Jan 1851, Oakland Co., MI, Sarah M. Kyle, daughter of ----- and Ellen (-----) Kyle. She was born about 1834, NY, and died 5 Nov 1852.
He married thirdly, about 1855, Sophia A. Ray, daughter of William Ray. She was born 18 Mar 1829, England, and died after 1880.
He was born in Detroit, MI, where his father was a soldier in the U.S. Army. He learned the trade of carpenter and joiner, but has always followed agricultural pursuits. He has resided at Sackett's Harbor, Ogdensburg, and Watertown, NY, and in Detroit, Franklin, and Nelson, MI. He served in the late war, and was postmaster in his town for some years; resided Detroit, Nelson, and Cedar Springs, MI.

Painter; resided Vandalia, MO. iii. Solomon Martin Whitney, b. 7 Apr 1844, MI; d. unmarried 22 Sep 1863. He was shot through the body at the battle of Chickamauga near Chattanouga and died two days after. He was buried in the National cemetery.
